After two sold-out performances at the TPAC, James Garner and his band return for a third appearance, bringing the legendary music of Johnny Cash back to our stage for one night only!

For nearly 20 years and more than 700 professional performances, Garner has brought the sound and spirit of the Man in Black to audiences across the country. Get ready for an evening of Cash favorites, captivating storytelling, and the unmistakable boom-chicka-boom sound that started it all.

A SHOW THAT WALKS THE LINE

For nearly 20 years, James Garner and his band have celebrated the music and legacy of Johnny Cash with a tribute that has taken them to stages across the country. The show has been featured in concert on PBS and performed at both Folsom and San Quentin Prisons, where Cash recorded two of his most legendary live albums.

Audiences will hear favorites including “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Ring of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” and more, performed with the distinctive sound and rhythm that made Johnny Cash an American music icon.

But this is more than a concert. Garner combines the music with stories and insights into Cash’s life and legacy, giving audiences a deeper look at the Man in Black and the music they know and love.

Garner and his band have performed more than 700 professional shows, including a special concert at Folsom State Prison commemorating the 40th anniversary of Cash’s groundbreaking 1968 live album. Gene Beley, a journalist who joined Johnny Cash’s entourage at the original Folsom Prison concert, praised Garner’s tribute:

Garner’s connection to Johnny Cash’s music began long before he started performing it professionally.

“I started listening to Johnny Cash when I was 12,” Garner recalls. “The first song I heard was ‘Don’t Take Your Guns to Town,’ and I was hooked. Years later, I saw the Man in Black live in concert and even got to shake his hand backstage. That moment is something I’ll never forget.”

AGE GUIDANCE

Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to consider whether the performance is appropriate for their child. All guests, regardless of age, must have a ticket unless otherwise noted.

ARRIVAL & RUNTIME

• Lobby opens approximately 45 minutes before showtime.
• Theatre doors open approximately 30 minutes before showtime.
• Approximate runtime: 1 hour and 45 minutes.
• Intermission: 15 minutes.

We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before showtime to allow plenty of time for parking, ticket scanning, and finding your seats.

PARKING & ARRIVAL

Free parking is available in the Templeton High School main parking lot at the front of campus. If the main lot is full, please follow posted signage to the additional parking lot across the street.

Once parked, follow posted signage directing you to the theatre lobby.

ACCESSIBILITY & SEATING

• Accessible seating: Row M offers step-free access and includes designated spaces for guests using wheelchairs.
• Limited mobility: We recommend Row M for guests who have difficulty navigating stairs. The TPAC features steep, stadium-style seating in other areas of the theatre.
• Elevator access: An elevator is available for guests who need assistance accessing lower rows or would like to limit stair use.
• Shuttle service: For most events, a complimentary shuttle transports guests from the front of campus directly to the theatre. When available, signage will be posted at the pickup location. Return service is also provided following the performance.

TICKETS & ENTRY

Tickets may be presented on your mobile device or printed at home. Please have your ticket ready for scanning when you arrive at the theatre.

If you can't locate your tickets or need assistance, our staff can help when you arrive. Tickets may also be purchased at the door when seats remain available.

For reserved-seating events, please sit in the seat listed on your ticket.

LATE SEATING

Late seating is subject to the needs of the performance and may be delayed until an appropriate break in the program. We recommend arriving early so you don't miss any part of the show.

DURING THE PERFORMANCE

• Photography, video recording, and audio recording are not permitted. 
• Please silence phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices before the performance begins.
• Food and drinks are not permitted inside the theatre. Bottled water is welcome.

REFUNDS

All refund requests must be submitted to the Templeton Performing Arts Center for consideration. Refunds are not guaranteed and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

CAMPUS POLICIES

The Templeton Performing Arts Center is located on the Templeton High School campus. As a public school facility, alcohol, tobacco products, nicotine devices, vapes, and e-cigarettes are prohibited throughout the entire campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas.
